♥The Beach
posted on Tuesday, June 19, 2007.

i remember when i was younger, when summer came we spent most of our time at the beach. We would make it an all day thing, mom would pack the cooler with drinks and things to make sandwiches, and pack brown paper bags with chips and cookies. We'd leave in the morning and not come back til night. I remember the breeze on the beach, the sun was so hot but the breeze cooled you down. I use to love listening to the sound of the waves while i lounged in a lounge chair. I grew up and stopped going to the beach so much, infact i hadnt been to the beach in about 3 years, until a couple days ago, i took vincent for the first time. I have to admitt i was excited. I wondered how he would react. Will he like the sea gulls flying above, what will he think of the wave crashing, or the warm sand between your toes and fingers.

When we got to the beach the first thing i did was set him in the sand and sit down next to him pointing things out and telling him what they were, just so he could soak it all in. Feel the wind. See the waves. Look at the birds. It has to be amazing to see the beach through his little eyes.

We walked down to the water where the little tide pools were. Vincent could play in the water with out the waves sweeping him away.

I scooped up a small crab that was crawling by to show vincent, he had never seen a crab before and kept wanting to stick it in his mouth.

We played some more and vincent checked everything out, making sure he didnt miss anything. When it was time to go, i was already planning the next trip back to the beach.

I hope vincent liked the beach, and i hope he will always see it through baby eyes, instead of adult eyes that tend to forget what it was like to see the beach for the first time, and take such amazing things for granted.

♥Oh Poop
posted on Thursday, June 14, 2007.

When i was pregnant, everyone had a story to tell about what there baby did at one time or another. Or what i am "in store for". i heard the story about how when Mommy came to babys room one morning to discover he had tried finger painting with his own poop. "Ew" i would say, and in reply i would get a "you wait, it will happen to you to".

The other morning. Thankfully one of my days off. i woke to Vincent crying and talking and calling "mama" like he does every morning, i stumble out of bed, go to the bathroom and brush my teeth. As i am walking to Vincents room i hear him calling, i open the door and am over taken by the strong smell of shit, the closer i get to the crib the more i can see "that shit".... is my baby. Somehow that morning between the time he woke up and the time i came in the room he had taken his diaper off and played in his own poop. He was covered in it. [[a visual- think of leaving a one year old in a room with a bowl of chocolate cake batter for about 30 minutes, that's what Vincent looked like, except the cake batter was poop]]. It was so gross, i grabbed him from the bed while praying at the same time that he please god didn't eat any of it. Went to the bathroom and turned the shower on. Somehow i managed to get him clean. I swear, poop was on ever single item that was in his crib, i washed all the sheets and stuffed animals twice. i really hope this never happens again. Now i try to remember to put night pants on him when he goes to bed.

♥You Did It YAY

we bought Vincent this chair for his birthday, he loves it

the other day i was feeding him while he was sitting in it, he stands up, because oh ya... he can stand on his own now... but anyway he stands up and takes one step toward me, so I'm like "OK, one means maybe there is a two or even a third one bottled up in there" so i scoot back and set him back in the chair and say 'Vincent come to mommy, let me see you do that again" and sure enough he stands up and takes three and a half steps toward me.... How long has he known how to do this? I called the daddy and told him and then when daddy got home he tried and sure enough again, Vincent walked three steps toward him. We have been doing tons of praise and now he can do up to four steps. i am so excited.

Vincent's Great Grandma [Meema] is a devoted reader to Mama Loves Baby. Today Vincent received a birthday card in the mail from Meema today with twenty dollars in it, we went to walmart and spent it immediately..... and it went a little something like this....

Vincent had his Birthday Party Saturday, we had to move it from the park to his grandpas house because the weather forecast called for a ton of rain. I will admit at first i was a little bummed, i really had wanted it to be at the play ground, then i realized that Vincent wouldn't care where it was at as long as he was surrounded by familiar faces, the only reason i was so die hard for the play ground was just for all the other kids that would be attending his party, so grandpas house it was. We went and decorated it all nice with blue balloons everywhere, and blue streamers, we had tons of food, and lots of presents. I like to believe Vincent had alot of fun. He seemed like he really enjoyed himself, and in the end that's all i really wanted.
