Mother to Boys.

♥Happy Halloween
posted on Wednesday, October 31, 2007.

We are all on a sugar high including The Boy, who is currently bouncing off the walls like a ping pong ball. No actually, i hear him in the living room with The Daddy practicing how to say 'i love you' .... but , he is no where near ready for bed, still going strong til 4 in the morn. The Boy enjoyed Trick or Treating. His costume was a big hit and all the other trick or treaters and candy givers loved it. I'm pretty proud... i made that costume... yep, sewed it all by myself. And as you see The Boy is pimping his Elmo bucket. Cool kid!

Mema and Pawpaw came to visit this evening to check out The Boys Halloween costume i made............

....
and Mema brought The Boy me cookies she made, or maybe she brought them for The Boy, in which case i will tell The Boy that Mema was my Mema first and she brought the cookies for me... but i will share them because i am a good Mommy, and that he should appreciate me because some mommies arnt as nice as his and would hide the cookies and eat all of them all by themselves.

Love you Mema and Pawpaw, the cookies are great, and The boy loves the dancing chicken.

♥Rain On My Pajamas

the only thing i love about chilly weather is the fact that you have an excuse to lounge in pajamas all day, and its completely acceptable. When The Boy woke this morning, instead of changing him into day clothes, i changed him into another comfy pair of PJ's, and we relaxed.

My normal routine at bath time is turn on the shower and wait for the water to get warm before i rinse the tub out and then fill the bath for The Boy. While the shower is on i go get The Boys clean clothes, diaper, baby powder, socks and things like that. While i am collecting all his things he stays in the bathroom and carefully chooses which toys to throw in the tub for bath time fun. Today, i did the normal, turn the shower on (check) go get The Boys belongings (check) heading back to the bathroom.... i guess i wasn't quick enough because The Boy took it upon himself to begin his shower. I walk in the bathroom and The Boy is standing in the shower, with his clothes still on playing with toys. Obviously i was taking too long and he had to take action on his own, resulting in him climbing in the tub on his own and starting his bath without me

I guess i will have to change my bath routine to getting belongings and then turning the shower on.

♥Rewind Thursday

This was when Vincent was almost a month old and about six days after he finally came home. He was so tiny. Look how black my eyes are... can we say lack of sleep!

♥Pumpkin Carving
posted on Tuesday, October 23, 2007.

A week before Halloween.

We carved our pumpkin today. A First time for Vincent and he acted as if he didn't care if it was his last. He refused to stick his hand into the pumpkin, as if his hand would disappear into the deep dark hole if he did, he decided that using a pumpkin shovel instead would be the best approach, after all who cares if the shovel drops in there The Daddy will get it back out, but if my hand drops in there i could never see it again! He didn't really like the texture of the pumpkin goo and wasn't pleased when the seeds stuck to his skin.

He became bored with the whole situation really quick and was way more interested in the rabid squirrel in the tree than the pumpkin that he has been staring at on the dinning room table for the past two weeks. Tired and bored, he went to take a nap before it was done being carved. Maybe next year he will be a little more involved.

♥A Day At The Zoo
posted on Monday, October 22, 2007.

Due to The Daddy's crazy work schedule we rarely get to get out, all three of us at once -as a family, and when we do its kind of a planned event. Usually Vincent and I do things on our own, but when The Daddy joins in it makes for some awesome times, not to mention it makes it a little easier on The Mommy, not having to chase The Boy around all by herself.

example of how we chase The Boy

Last week we took a trip to the Zoo, all three of us, and it was great. Vincent was very interested in the animals this time watching them with an amused look on his face, smiling if they moved an ear or tail to swat flies, and pointing at them if they started walking, flying, or making any noises.

I wondered what it was like for him, to have never seen animals like these before, does he know they are animals? When we walk up cage after cage, does he notice the animal as an animal or as a part of the scenery until we point it out, or it moves? I was trying to imagine it as i thought he would see it, was it like one of those books that you stare at, were its just scenery, and then when you look harder you see a small animal that you hadn't seen before when you just glanced. Only he doesn't see them until they move.

Some of the animals, like the Wart Hogs, they were sleeping and these arnt small animals people, but i pointed them out to him, and i could see it in his eyes that he was searching for what i was pointing at, and then when the Wart Hog sighed in his sleep, raising his belly really high before dropping it back down and twitching his ear, only then Vincent smiled and pointed, with his eyes now fixed on the Hogs, as if he hadn't seen them until they moved. It was fascinating really. His favorite was, of course, the giant fish.

I personally have always loved the Zoo, even if it breaks my heart to see them in cages, and makes me wonder if they are sad or lonely, it is a real treat to be able to be so close to an animal that you otherwise would only see on TV. I planned on buying Vincent a years pass to the Zoo for Christmas this year, so we can enjoy it anytime we wish. Vincent must have loved it too, as soon as we got back to the car and started our trip home he was fast asleep. The next morning i asked him "Vincent? So, did you enjoy the Zoo yesterday? rememeber the animals? and Daddy went to, remember?" and he replyed "yeeah!".

♥I Did It
posted on Saturday, October 13, 2007.

I decided to make Vincent a Cowboy for Halloween, using the Cow print pants.... I bought some black fabric with different colored cowboy boots to make the vest. I also bought a hat, a belt with the gun holders and a sheriffs badge, on Halloween he will most likely wear a brown shirt under the vest.

♥To Mema Turner

Thanks for the card i received form you in the mail yesterday. I loved the pictures, Joey and i were discussing how much Vincent looks like me when i was a baby, in the pictures its as if he is my twin. If you just take of my red hair and add a Mohawk it would be Vincent.

Love you,
Samantha & Vincent

♥Holy Cow

After browsing the Etsy website last night i woke this morning with an itch to sew so i decided to make Vincent another pair of Samurai pants.Walmart has a very shitty selection of fabric and after a half hour of looking at the same fabric over and over and them having nothing i wanted, i ended up buying cow print figuring if the pants turned out well he can wear them for Halloween (i haven't decided whether i want him to be a Cowboy or not, maybe). I am very happy with the end results and I will admit they turned out fauking awesome. He looks so cute in them.

♥Murder
posted on Thursday, October 11, 2007.

Six months ago one of my really awesome friends was murdered, his name was Matt Brumbaugh. Along with him a 16 year old girl was killed, her name was Chelsea. Apparently they were roommates, i had never met her before, but Matt had been my friend for about 6 years. We went to high school together. He would stand in front of my house every morning before school and wait for me so i didn't have to walk alone, then during school we would always skip the last class of the day together and sit in the court yard avoiding all teachers.

After high school we remained friends, occasionally getting together with other friends to drink, party and catch up on old times. When i got pregnant with Vincent i visited a couple times and the last time i really seen him was when he stopped by my house with two other friends to see Vincent when he came home from the hospital. And the last time i talked to him was about three weeks before he was murdered, he invited me to go to a concert with him, but i decided not to go because i rather stay and take care of my son......

Had i had known id never talk to him again i would have went to the concert, had a great time and told him what an awesome guy he was. I had personally never heard Matt say anything bad about anyone, he would have done anything for his friends and every time i seen him he was smiling. He had this way of asking how i was... he would always say "hows it going Samantha".... I can still hear his voice in my head......

Recently Americas Most Wanted covered their murder case, and i have the episode for you to watch right here, take the time to watch it.... Matt deserves that much considering he didn't deserve for some one to take his or Chelsea's life. Its hard a shit for me to watch when they show the house..... all i can think is I have been in that house, in those exact rooms. I will never go to the house again and though i still have his number programed into my cell phone, i will never call the number again, nor will i ever delete it out of my phone. Matt's not here anymore, but he lives in the many memories of many many friends who miss him very much.

Please take the time to watch this video..... Click here

♥Pumpkin Patches Rock!
posted on Tuesday, October 9, 2007.

I have always been a fan of Halloween, starting the first of October Id be considering costume after costume until i decide on the perfect one. Over the years i have dressed as a Snow White, a witch, a pumpkin, a clown, a cat, a vampire 3 years in a row, and funny enough when i was three weeks pregnant with Vincent, {before we had taken a pregnancy test} i was a Playboy Bunny and a hot one too. I pretty much always dress in a costume and trick or treat with the best of them and when some asshole adult wants to mock me and say "arnt you to old to dress up and trick or treat?" i shoot back with my one-liner "traditions never get old".

Last year was the first year in many that i didn't dress up. It was the day after Vincents 5 month birthday and I was going through a hard time in my life having alot to do with the baby blues and i chose Halloween Day to go to the doctor and ask for medicine to help make things better, I still dressed Vincent in his bear costume and took him around the block trick or treating just so people could aw over him and tell me how cute he was.

Vincents first halloween costume

This year though i feel like myself again and I'm not letting anything stop me from enjoying this Halloween with my son. We went today to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out a pumpkin, and next week we will be going out for costumes where i will make vincent try on probably 5 different costumes before i decide on the perfect one. Vincent loved the Pumpkin Patch today, we had decided to let him pick his own pumpkin... putting him down to walk and selecting the first one he touched thinking that that was obviously the one he wanted. He did a great job and couldn't have chose a better pumpkin, infact we bought him two, the one we will carve and then the baby one to hold and play with. The week before Halloween this baby's gonna be carved into the best Jack-o-lantern face on the block. We will hand out a bag of candy for about an hour and then off we go to trick or treat on our own, leaving behind the Jack to watch over the house with is fiery smile and squinty eyes.

♥FYI
posted on Sunday, October 7, 2007.

I have started trying to water mark my photos after reading a post i found in Notes From The Trenches. Before i had read this particular blog post some people would ask me if i was afraid of people stealing pictures of babies {including Vincents} and using them for their own use, I will admit i hadn't given it to much thought until i read the post and realized this shit actually does happen, and id rather not have some sick person stealing my glory... after all he is MY son.

♥Flipping the Switch

As i am typing this right now, Vincent is on top of his toy box where he can reach the light switch and turning the light on and off. Havent you heard? Flipping the switch is all the rage in the Ramirez house lately. Next will be flushing the toilet over and over.

♥The Best Of Both Worlds
posted on Thursday, October 4, 2007.

I scan blogs like a hawk, rolling my eyes across the screen hoping to catch a new interest. A new blog that will keep me entertained for a while like a new book you cant put down. I want to wake up in the morning and run to check the latest post, not knowing whether one was made or not is like finding the toy at the end of the cereal box... i mean is it really as cool as the box describes or is it some cheap ass toy that makes us want to buy the cereal. We will never know.

Occasionally i will find a post about a mom complaining about her toddler or infant sleeping in the same bed with them, about how it is ruining their sex life and the kid is taking up the whole bed and yada yada. Well I'll be the first one to complain that my toddler will not even dare sleep with me, and i hate it. last night i tried so hard to get Vincent to sleep in the bed with me, and it ended the same way it always does with him in his crib and me in my own bed wondering why he doesn't want to sleep with me.When he was an infant he refused to sleep anywhere but on me chest. We would camp out in the living room so we didn't wake the daddy with our late night feedings. I would wake up soaked in baby drool . I miss it. Somewhere around 3-4 months Vincent decided he didn't want to sleep with me anymore and his new love would be his crib. Ever met a baby that truly loves his crib.... well meet Vincent. The crib took my place. I mean i don't want him to solely sleep with me, but.... every once in a while would be nice. I thought last night might work. I could tell he was so tired because of the way he rubs his head and eyes... so i went in the room and turned the lights off and decided we were going to go to sleep. We lay down and immediately Vincent giggles, as if to say "you gotta be kidding mom" he tries a few times to get up and i hold him tight with out saying anything to him and pretending i am asleep {the things parents will do} he gives up and lays there for about 20 minutes talking to himself and every once in a while he will looks up at me and laugh which is probably because he can tell i am pretending to be asleep and he finds a little humor in the fact that i haven't fooled him. Then he practices snapping his fingers moving on to the motions for the Itsy Bitsy Spider, then he started pointing at the fan and asking what i assume to be questions and i just layed there pretending to go to sleep for a good 45 minutes before i decided to put him in his own bed where he didn't even cry or anything, possibly falling directly asleep. I am jealous of the crib.
