♥A Day At The Zoo
posted on Monday, October 22, 2007.
Due to The Daddy's crazy work schedule we rarely get to get out, all three of us at once -as a family, and when we do its kind of a planned event. Usually Vincent and I do things on our own, but when The Daddy joins in it makes for some awesome times, not to mention it makes it a little easier on The Mommy, not having to chase The Boy around all by herself. ![]() example of how we chase The Boy Last week we took a trip to the Zoo, all three of us, and it was great. Vincent was very interested in the animals this time watching them with an amused look on his face, smiling if they moved an ear or tail to swat flies, and pointing at them if they started walking, flying, or making any noises. I wondered what it was like for him, to have never seen animals like these before, does he know they are animals? When we walk up cage after cage, does he notice the animal as an animal or as a part of the scenery until we point it out, or it moves? I was trying to imagine it as i thought he would see it, was it like one of those books that you stare at, were its just scenery, and then when you look harder you see a small animal that you hadn't seen before when you just glanced. Only he doesn't see them until they move. Some of the animals, like the Wart Hogs, they were sleeping and these arnt small animals people, but i pointed them out to him, and i could see it in his eyes that he was searching for what i was pointing at, and then when the Wart Hog sighed in his sleep, raising his belly really high before dropping it back down and twitching his ear, only then Vincent smiled and pointed, with his eyes now fixed on the Hogs, as if he hadn't seen them until they moved. It was fascinating really. His favorite was, of course, the giant fish. ![]() I personally have always loved the Zoo, even if it breaks my heart to see them in cages, and makes me wonder if they are sad or lonely, it is a real treat to be able to be so close to an animal that you otherwise would only see on TV. I planned on buying Vincent a years pass to the Zoo for Christmas this year, so we can enjoy it anytime we wish. Vincent must have loved it too, as soon as we got back to the car and started our trip home he was fast asleep. The next morning i asked him "Vincent? So, did you enjoy the Zoo yesterday? rememeber the animals? and Daddy went to, remember?" and he replyed "yeeah!". Labels: The Zoo
