♥First Dentist Appointment & A Yellow Balloon

the yellow balloon

I have been working so hard at work lately. Besides the guilt of not spending as much time with The Boy, I also haven't had very much time to post. Work gets crazy insane around Thanksgiving every year. Usually I only work two days a week and the rest of the days I am a full time mommy. This week i had to work everyday to help with the overload of customers. Next week things will be back to normal, for a while anyway, and then it will get crazy again when Christmas gets closer.

Today i had the day off because we had an important day scheduled. Today was The Boys first dental appointment. I made the appointment about a month ago, and i had been telling The Boy all along that he was going to go to the dentist to get his teeth brushed. I figured this was the best way to prepare him for strangers fingers being all up in his grill. Since he loves to have his teeth brushed i was hoping he would be okay with it and all, and he was. A perfect angel. Mommy was very proud. Very proud.

Okay, first off, this Dentist he now goes to is like one of the best, and is completely tricked out. They have TVs in all the ceilings with cartoons on. While you get your teeth worked on and glammed up you get to watch your own personal TV, how awesome is that! They have toys everywhere, and the nurses are all so nice, and not that fake nice were you wanna punch them in the face... but the real deal. A major plus- Its clean. I'm sooo in love, fo sho, and The Boy will surly be a patient.Me too please, I'd like to be a patient also and "Id like to watch HG TV while i get my teeth cleaned".

For real. When we got there it took The Boy about one hundred years to walk up to the doors, and when we finally got in the office he noticed the toy area immediately, and as soon as he did i went to grab his hand to tell him no. No way. No child of mine is playing with all those nasty germ infested toys that are never ever clean. As i grabbed his hand i glanced at the toy area out of the corner of my eye... and holy shit, the toys where actually clean -the whole area was, no stained up carpets, but clean white tile floors, with clean nice new non-broke toys.... I let go of The Boys hand and said "go for it" and he ran in the blocked off area and played until his name was called.

When we go in the back the nurse gives us a brief tour and tells me how proud she is that we are bringing him at the suggested age and how most parents tend wait to long, blah blah blah. I think to myself 'those must be the same parents that never read parenting books or own a computer with the Internet'((these are the parents i label Wingers, because they just wing it, they never read books or research anything about parenting, they just do things as they go along)). I thank the nurse for the tour as she shows us our room. She briefs me a little more on what she is going to do with The Boy and asks me a few questions before asking The Boy if he wants to sit in the red chair. She continues to talk to The Boy, and then to me about how he might act, she tells me "its up to him what he allows us to do today"-&-" most babies only let us 'look' at their teeth on the first visit, and don't expect too much from him this first time".

The Boy lays down and she asks him if she can see all his teeth, then i lean in and tell him "she's going to brush your teeth, let her see them so that she can brush them, like at home do you want them brushed?". He opened his mouth to let her brush his teeth with no further pleading on our side. He did start to cry though after little bit, but just a tiny bit, but it wasn't from the being scared, but because just a month ago he stared going through this shy stage. I just patted him on the leg and told him "its okay silly, your getting your teeth brushed, that's it that's all she is going to do" and pointed at the TV on the ceiling (which was playing Angry Beavers) and said "hey look at that, the TV is in the ceiling. Whoa how cool is that? Its neat huh?" and then that was the end of that. The Dentist came in and talked me and then applied some fluoride to The Boys teeth with no fights or any fusses on his part.

Thats it our appointment was over. The Boy got a big yellow balloon and I got many praises on how excellent he behaved and how shocked they were that he allowed them to do a full appointment on his very first visit. Thank you, Than you ::cue for my applause now::. When we were walking out to the car i told The Boy how proud I was of him. And I am. Very very proud.
